Tribal Mentality

“I am SUCH a Loser,” I said to myself as I closed the book about a woman in Papua New Guinea whose husband had been murdered by a member of the tribe for which this couple had spent 24 years translating the New Testament. She stayed on and finished the work, resulting in an amazing things, yada yada yada…

So I lay on the bed pondering my sorry state and praying for God to help me, and apparently, He heard me ‘cuz I heard this:

“Oh. Let me get this straight—this is about YOU. And unless you serve some unknown yam-eating tribe clothed in banana leaves and John gets axed in the head by a psychotic native, you have no value? Okay then call me an atheist ‘cuz I can’t believe in your little god.”

Hmmm. Alright.

I’m better now. I’ll just get up and make this bed for Him and do the very next thing He tells me to do; and the next, and the next…

Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Matthew 16:23,24

  1. You do that too?! Though my comparison is usually with this lady I know who feeds refugees and goes to the outer most parts of Belize to relieve weary missionaries, among lots of other selfless things. (insert face kissing emoji here)
