There has always been injustice, inequality, untruth, and turmoil. These things can be Lord of my day unless I choose to hold back the night by focusing on something other than; like these people I encountered today:
The woman who battled and overcame addiction, and now leads worship at her church;
The successful mountain guide who joyfully stacks chairs, serving his high-country church after suffering an altitude-induced stroke;
The husband and wife who adore their severely disabled son and maintain a sense of humor, despite heartache and fear of the future.
Lord, thank you for the quiet encouragement of people who choose to live joyously despite sufferings.
“Me” is really all I can control, so help me each day to do likewise.
He has shown you what is good and what the Lord requires:
To do justly,
To love mercy, and
To walk humbly before God.
Choose this day whom you will serve. Joshua 24:15
