Antidote for Fear

Years ago, John and I witnessed a murder involving a mafia-type group. They knew where we lived. Through an informant, the FBI told us a contract had been put out on John’s life. Paralyzed with fear, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t eat, but I could memorize the Bible like never before, nor since. Through the ensuing years of court trial, a break-in, and midnight threats, this verse, written to anyone willing to cling to Christ, was my food:

“He who created you, he who formed you, says:

‘Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you and called you by name; you are mine….When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned and the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God…’” Isaiah 43:1-3

Through water or by fire, He calls you by name…
